Scottish winter update 28th Jan 2016

12592213_1007937942599670_3007782068089998464_nWith over 25 days out this season the 2015/2016 Scottish Winter  is proving to be challenging… but that’s what it is all about. There has been some very memorable days out on Ben Nevis with the BMC clubs winter mountaineering course perhaps getting the best of the conditions to date and a hard but exhilarating day on Castle Ridge (III). Working on the Jagged Globe course it was a pleasure to prepare Angela and Mike for their forthcoming trip to Mera and Island Peak. The enthusiasm of the Lancashire Mountaineering Club was superb and we managed to have two quality days out on their winter skills course. Over the past few days there has been a massive thaw and disappointing for Mark who is preparing for his K2 trip but we enjoyed a day in the Cairngorms and at Glasgow Snow Factor. The snow is arriving as I type and with plenty more work this season I am sure I shall be reporting more news as the year goes on. As we all enjoy our winter climbing there is also sad news to report with the loss of Simon and Jo , two young talented climbers in Stob Coire nan Beith. There is no consolation for the loss of life and my heart felt sympathy goes to their families and friends.

I do have some availability on the 1/2 Feb and 15 to 18th March if you fancy that Scottish winter experience.
