Easily accessible form Oslo, there are a number of climbing venues within a short drive from the centre of town and just 5 to 30 minutes from the car.. Roadside single pitch ice climbs provide excellent teaching venues whereas the numerous multi-pitch venues offer outstanding routes.

Learning to climb water ice safely requires concentration to technique and ice screw placements. Using the roadside ice we can use a top roping system so that you are always safe and can enjoy practicing the skills required to venture out onto a multi pitch climb.

  • Belaying

  • Crampon Placement
  • Removing Ice Screws
  • Dealing with the cold

If you wish to progress onto multi- pitch climbs or even have a go at leading then there will be a chance to have a look at:

Having climbed several pitches of steep water ice I can assure you your arms and legs will be tired and you will be looking to seek refuge in a warm hostel to rest and refuel before doing it all again the next day. If you fancy a change from climbing then there is a chance climb Gaustatoppen (1883m), ski or snowshoe. Mixing and matching your activities whilst on holiday in Rjukan is a great idea and allows you to explore the area and test yourself at different activities.

On a different note Norway is renowned for being expensive and it is, but with careful choice of accommodation and by self catering Adele has enjoyed many trips guiding in Norway costing around £900 ( all inclusive) per person for five days. If you would like to discuss the possibilities and get a quote for an all inclusive package then do not hesitate to get in touch.
