Winter Round up and Trips for the summer April 2016
APM has had a very busy winter with so many superb days out. Regular updates have been posted on the Adele Pennington Mountaineering Facebook page. Apologies to all those non Facebook users. To finish the season Laurie and Ian ascended Ledge route and Jan and I did a round of Stob Coire nan Lochan. That’s been four months since the snow arrived and well over 80 days out. As the winter draws to an end I would like to thank all those who have booked days out and look forward to seeing you next year for some winter action.
As Spring is on its way in the Highlands my attention is turning to more action on Rum, Skye and our more local hills around Fort William.
There are still two places left on the Rum and Skye trip starting on the 20th June. The rip is confirmed to run.
A seven day trip exploring the Cuillin Ridge on Rum and the Cuillin Munro’s on Skye. Rum and Skye are fascinating Islands and their mountains afford some superb scrambling. On this trip we shall attempt a ridge traverse of the Rum Cuillin and have three separate days exploring some of the best scrambling on Skye with an opportunity to climb the Inaccessible Pinnacle if the group desires.
Day 1: Depart Fort William 8.30am travel to Mallaig and take Ferry to Kinloch and overnight in Bunkhouse
Day 2: With a dawn start we will set out for a ridge traverse of the Rum Cuillin and drop down to Dibidil where we shall overnight. 8 to 9 hours
Day 3: Walk out to Kinloch (4hrs) and make return crossing to Mallaig to catch Ferry to Armadale (Skye) and drive to Bunk house.
