Ledge Route Ben Nevis 23rd Nov 2016
Sacked packed and sandwiches made last night I rolled out of bed this morning straight into Paramo kit for a wander up Ledge Route**** as I needed to be back down early to go to work this evening. I know I have done it before but it never disappoints and earns every one of its four stars. On route I met John at the bottom of number Five Gully and we teamed up for some company. Two climbers were in front and we gathered on the top. Searching in my rucksack the tuna sandwiches I had carefully prepared were no where to be seen. Thanks to John ,Carl and Mark who fed me snickers, Haribo and some Swiss delight. John and I took at look at Number four gully but it was not holding enough snow to make it an easy descent so we caught Mark and Carl up descending Red Burn and all walked out together. We definitely needed ice axe and crampons and found pockets of windslab on the route. The Ice on the Ben is forming nicely but still a wee bit thin. What a great start to the season.
Availability left this winter December 9th to 15th: December 21 to 24 December 26 to 31st January 2nd to 5th March 18th to 23rd
Our three days together were absolutely wonderful and will remain in our memory for ever. Thank you Adele and, if you can bear it, here's to the next outing!
